Getting to Hotel Schachen in the Ahrntal valley & all the information about this fantastic nature-based location.

  • Coming from the north via the Brennero motorway, on your approach, take the Brixen/Val Pusteria exit and follow the national highway to Val Pusteria until you reach Brunico. From there, continue on to the Hotel Schachen in the Ahrntal valley, where you will find us right in the centre of the village of St. Johann.
  • Coming from the east, head via Lienz in Osttirol (A) crossing the border between Austria and Italy between Ahrnbach and Winnebach, continuing on the national highway to Val Pusteria and on to Brunico. Turn off there and head into wonderful Ahrntal valley, until you reach the centre of the village of St. Johann.

The north/south route proceeds via Innsbruck, Brennero, Bolzano. The connecting station is usually Franzensfeste (Fortezza). The east/west route proceeds via Lienz, Innichen, Franzensfeste. Your destination station is Brunico (Brunico) or Brunico Nord (Brunico Nord). From Brunico your journey to our hotel in the Ahrntal valley continues via the Linienbus service in the Ahrntal valley, by taxi or conveniently via the ‘Südtirol Transfer’ connecting shuttle service.

  • Bolzano airport: The closest airport is Bolzano, around 90 km from Parkhotel Schachen.
  • Innsbruck airport: Innsbruck airport is around 100 km away. You get to the Ahrntal valley from there via the Brenneroautobahn.
  • Munich airport: Munich airport, around 300 km away, is also suitable as an arrival point for your journey.
